Classicism is the most anthropocentric style of art. It’s strict
architecture forms, submission of nature to human mind are
the anthropocentric statement. We create an Utopia where the
nature is an architect, where we consider plastic subordination
relationships between natural structures and human forms. We
do not fight, we create the dialogue learning communication
with the nature.
The objects created are based on the documentation of the trip
to the 18th century manor «Mikhailovka» near St. Petersburg.
Piranesi in his engravings violated the integrity of ancient
buildings, turning them into catastrophic paintings of imaginary
destruction. We use the same method of showing the future
through the past, immersing the human body, architecture and
nature in a network of new relationships. For Piranesi, nature
and architecture are opposed, but for us they are co-builders of
the environment. Observing the classical structure of paintings,
columns, reliefs, we create new forms in which the human body
is the same building material as stones, and plants are not
decorations – they become full residents. Skin is a metaphor
for a surface formed by the interaction of various forces: plants,
wind, water, earth, man, stone. Architecture appears as an
interweaving of living fabrics changing over time.
