Biennale of Horizontal Initiatives, Vinzavod, Moscow 2021
The dance of evoking passion is an interpretation of the ancient
Yakut rite of fertility and evoking passion - a sense of one’s
own vitality. There are no spectators in this performance, only
participation.
We are addressing to a disappeared ritual in an attempt to
connect with your natural life force for the implementation of
the conceived and the embodiment of the innermost desire.
In the course of preparation, we researched modern somatic
practices, worked with voice and breath, and turned to the
surviving documents about this rite. As a result, we have
created a sequence of easy-to-follow actions that can be
performed as a practice.
In an authentic ritual, the Shaman plays the main role, but the
artists give the audience-participants the opportunity to interpret
the instructions in their own way, thereby creating horizontal
relations with nature and the people around them.
The fertility rite «D’alyng ylyytyn tuomo» refers to the springsummer
ritual cycle of the Yakuts, but upon request it was
carried out in the fall. This is an appeal to the Goddess of the
Earth with a request to send down «dyaling» (the power of
sexual attraction) for people and livestock in order to increase
soil fertility, increase the yield, and the offspring of domestic
animals. girls and three times nine young men», bitiihitter
(dancers).
